Every year Freed of London hold an open day, it’s a chance for our wholesale customers to see ‘behind the scenes’- so to speak - of the how we as a company operate. We are particularly looking forward to this year’s open day as last year’s one was so much fun!
Our last open day kicked off with a short tea reception in the morning which was followed by an in-depth tour of both our ballroom and ballet factory and then an exclusive fitting training session with a sneak peak of our brand new products.
Our theatrical manager Bambos guided the first part of the tour, this saw the various stages of our theatrical shoes being hand made by our team. Our guests met factory staff members such as Ian (our head clicker – he cuts out patterns using special knives), Katie (one of our expert machinists) and Ronnie (supervisor of the closing room).
Our next tour was guided by our head pointe shoe fitter Sophie, which allowed guests to not only see how our pointe shoe factory operates, but also meet the people who make the famous Freed of London pointe shoes! After they had met the pointe makers, they had the chance to talk to some other ballet factory staff such as Raf (pointe shoe trainer and QC), Tinos (one of our supervisors and stitchers) and Gary Higgins (factory manager).
These thrilling tours lead to a well-deserved lunch break, allowing all of our guests to talk to and meet more Freed of London staff members. Our open day finished with an exclusive pointe shoe fitting talk and training demonstration from our very own head pointe shoe fitter Sophie – what would we do without her!
After the wonderful time we had last year, we are now even more excited for the fast approaching Freed of London open day in December.
