Alexandra joined a small dance class at the age of 7 as part of an after-school program. She was partnered instantly and carried on in this partnership for 2 years before she had to move away. When she returned at the age of 10 she wanted to carry on with Ballroom and Latin dancing so she joined the best dance club in her city. Eventually Alexandra moved to England in 2004, continuing to do what she knew best; Dance. She notes that it was challenging for her at first being in a different country but her parents were extremely supportive, driving her around the country most days of the week for practice, lessons and competitions. In 2008 she partnered with Joseph Hopwood.
Joseph begun to dance in a UKA Medallist school at the age of 6, his parents first took him to a class to see if he would like it. Upon first attending a class Joseph quipped ‘that it was for girls!’ however, a month later he returned because he wanted to be a dancer like his dad and hasn’t stopped since! After a long string of successful results in the Medallist scene, Joseph moved into the Open Circuit in 2004. In 2006 he began his career at the Championship level and two years later he partnered with Alexandra Hawley.
Since dancing 10 Dance together from 2008, Joseph and Alexandra found themselves drawn more to Latin, in which they specialised in from 2010. 4 years later they have turned Professional and later received their Adjudicating license. Together Joseph and Alexandra traveled the world competing in America, France, Germany, Slovakia and all across the United Kingdom. They are currently British and UK Professional Latin Finalists and International Rising Star semi-finalists.
