Freed of London are famous for creating high quality, timeless dance shoes for people all around the world – both in Ballet and Ballroom – but that isn’t where our shoe journey ends. Over the years, we have also had the pleasure of creating shoes for some absolutely outstanding theatre productions, and we don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
The most recent stand out production we have been involved with was the magnificent, highly praised 42nd Street – a superb show about a music spectacular held during the great depression. For 42nd Street, Freed of London were responsible for making multiple 1930’s style vintage character shoes in various colours – a gold leather pair of these shoes were actually gifted to Kate Middleton when she went to see the show!
Freed of London have also worked on Singing in the Rain, Top Hat and Guys and Dolls… we have even named one of our character styles ‘Chicago’ after a shoe we created especially for the production of Chicago.
We do not just create custom shoes, some theatre shows are more than happy to use various dance shoes from our current ranges in their productions. Current shows such as Phantom of the Opera and Lion King use our world renowned pointe shoes whilst West End smash On Your Feet use a variety of shoes from our Latin and Social Range.
Working on various theatre shows is also a lot of fun because we have the opportunity to create shoes we wouldn’t usually have the chance to make. For the production of Dream Girls, Freed of London created an absolutely gorgeous and glamourous 5” platform sandal in silver leather which was covered in crystal embellishments. We have also been working alongside The Cursed Child (a prequel to Harry Potter) and we love seeing our beautiful ‘Roma’shoe in dark aubergine suede, it’s the perfect fit for this play.
Freed of London are proud to have been a part of so many truly incredible productions, and we cannot wait to see what the future of theatre has in store for us!
